By law, Belgian consular fees are published in Euros (EUR). In Canada one has to pay the equivalent in Canadian dollars (CAD). The exchange rate is adapted regularly by decision of Belgian Foreign Affairs.
In Canada, only the Consulate-General of Belgium in Montreal is authorised to offer consular services for Belgium. Beware of fraudulent websites offering so-called consular services for a fee! Cash, personal cheques, international cheques or bank transfers are not accepted.
Consular fees for visas are non-refundable if the application is refused or if the consular client cancels their application.
New consular fees
On 1 February 2026, the consular fees were changed.
These have been adapted to the exchange rate, which rose from 1,62 CAD to 1,70 CAD for 1 EUR.

- Bank draft or certified cheque (issued by a Canadian financial institution) made out to the 'Consulate General of Belgium';
- Credit card or debit card payment, if you pay at counter.
